The Bodyfurn is a globally recognised dynamic school chair that is a staple in schools across New Zealand, Australia and beyond. Furnware engaged us to support the next generation of their flagship chair, the Bodyfurn Flex. Working in a design advisory role, we helped inform new manufacturing and assembly processes while collaborating with the Furnware design and engineering team to refine key aesthetic features all while maintaining the essence of the original.

The chair builds on the trusted foundation of its predecessor while evolving to meet new production needs. Removing welded sub assemblies, making holding inventory and storage pre-market more efficient, as well as paving the way for streamline in-market assembly reducing shipping footprints and improving access to global markets.

Improved design detailing and styling while maintaining comfort and durability in the classroom was vital to success along with updating the ergonomic sizing across the range to reflect changing demographics to ensure it exceeds AS/NZS 4610.2.2020 standards. The result is a future-ready evolution of a classroom classic.
